FAQs
Clear answers to the questions families and facilities ask us most.
How we work and how we are paid.
How Much Does It Cost?
Nothing. Our services are free to families. We are paid a referral fee by the communities and care homes, so there is no cost to you for our placement services.
Do I Have to Move My Loved One?
No. We look at staying home first, and moving is always your family’s decision. If a move is the right choice, we help you plan it.
How Do You Choose the Communities You Recommend?
Recommendations are based on your loved one’s care needs, preferences, safety, location, and budget. We prescreen and vet communities to ensure they provide safe, quality care, and we are not owned by or obligated to recommend any community.
Will You Only Recommend Communities That Pay You?
No. We are not owned, employed or obligated to recommend any community. If a provider compensates us, that never determines or influences the options we present.
Finding, comparing, and visiting the right place.
How Much Does Senior Living Cost?
Costs vary by community, location, and the level of care needed. We gather real pricing from the communities on your shortlist so you can compare them side by side.
Can You Help with a Hospital or Rehab Discharge?
Yes. Our advisors have expertise in hospital and skilled rehabilitation discharge for immediate placement needs. Call (888) 574-3178, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
What If My Loved One Would Rather Stay at Home?
We take that seriously. We look first at in-home care and aging-in-place resources, and we’ll tell you honestly what is realistic. Any move is your family’s decision.
Will You Come on Tours with Us?
Yes. We help schedule tours and can accompany you, so you can ask the right questions and compare communities with confidence.
Downsizing, organizing, and the move itself.
What Does a Move Manager Do?
One dedicated Move Manager owns every detail from the first call to the final picture hung. They plan your floor layout, coordinate every vendor, and stay through the end to set up each room.
Can We Use Just One Service?
Yes. You can start with the part you need, such as downsizing, organizing, or a cleanout, or combine services for a full move.
What Happens to Belongings We Don’t Keep?
We coordinate donations, estate sales, and junk removal, so there is a clear plan for everything that leaves the home.
Can You Help After a Loss or a Move to Senior Living?
Yes. Our cleanout service handles family heirloom coordination, donations, junk removal, probate and estate sales, and the final cleanout, with discretion and care.
Will You Work at Our Pace?
Yes. We work through belongings with you at your pace, with a clear plan for everything that moves on.
How Does Pricing Work?
It depends on your situation and the services you choose. Request a consultation and an advisor will explain how pricing works for your family.
Plain answers about coverage and plans.
Does a Plan Review Cost Anything?
No. A plan review with a licensed EOS agent is free and there is no obligation to enroll. Your current or future Medicare enrollment status will not be affected, and there is no automatic enrollment.
Is This a Government Website?
No. We are not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. Government or the federal Medicare program. For official information, visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
When Can I Change My Medicare Plan?
Most people can review and change plans during the Annual Election Period, October 15 to December 7. If you are in a Medicare Advantage plan, you also have a one-time change window from January 1 to March 31. Life events can open a Special Enrollment Period.
Medicare Advantage or Medigap: Which Should I Choose?
It depends on your health needs, budget, and how much freedom you want in choosing doctors. Medicare Advantage often has lower premiums and a yearly spending cap but may use a network. Medigap can cost more but works with any provider who accepts Medicare. A licensed agent can compare both for you.
I Have Medicaid. Can I Also Have a Medicare Plan?
Yes. People with both are called dual eligible and may qualify for special plans, called D-SNPs, that coordinate Medicare and Medicaid benefits. Confirm your Medicaid eligibility with your state Medicaid office.
Does Medicare Pay for Assisted Living?
Generally, no. Medicare does not pay for long-term custodial care. It can cover short-term skilled nursing or rehab after a qualifying hospital stay. Families often pay for assisted living with savings, long-term care insurance, veterans benefits or Medicaid programs.
I Am a Veteran. Do I Still Need Medicare?
Many veterans keep both. Medicare adds coverage and choice, especially outside VA facilities, and you need Parts A and B to keep Tricare for Life. Compare your options before deciding.

Who Is American Operator?
American Operator is a direct buyer of small businesses. It uses its own committed capital to acquire companies and places vetted local operators as CEOs, with a path to majority ownership over time.
Are You a Business Broker?
Our role is to introduce families to a trusted buyer and help them through the process. American Operator buys businesses directly and is not a broker or intermediary. We will explain exactly who does what when you reach out.
What If My Business Is Smaller Than $750K in EBITDA?
Send us the details anyway. The ranges are guidelines, and we will tell you honestly whether it is a fit. If it is not, we can talk through other options for your family.
Will My Employees and Customers Find Out?
Not before you are ready. The process starts under a confidentiality agreement, and you decide when and how to share the news.
How Long Does a Sale Take?
American Operator reports about 60 days from a signed offer to closing, and up to 90 for complex deals. Getting to a signed offer takes a few conversations beforehand. No timeline is guaranteed.
What Information Will I Need to Share?
Mainly documents you already have: three years of profit and loss statements, balance sheets and tax returns, plus a short request list. Everything is protected by a confidentiality agreement.
What Happens to My Role After the Sale?
After closing, you help introduce your successor to customers, vendors and employees during an agreed transition. If you would like to stay involved longer, an advisory or consulting role can be arranged.
Do I Still Need an Attorney and an Accountant?
Yes. We recommend working with your own attorney and accountant throughout the process.
